The Cumberland Jr. Grads Minor Bantam B team’s recent participation in the Kanata Winter Classic Tournament at the Bell Sensplex was special for all the team members.
Players and their families contributed financial donations for the Rafter family of Kanata. 13-year-old Brodie Rafter, who plays for the Kanata Blazers Minor Bantam B team was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in November and is undergoing aggressive treatment. We may be on-ice competitors but in the game of hockey we are all family. We were touched by Brodie’s story and wanted to show his family, in some small way, that we are thinking of them. On January 16, Brodie was presented with a $750 cheque and a hand-made card featuring the team’s picture and signatures of all the players and coaches.
